The building was officially opened in May 1899 to be the headquarters of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Overlooking St James’s Park, One Birdcage Walk is located just minutes from the Houses of Parliament, Horse Guards Parade and HM Treasury, and conveniently situated between Westminster and St James’s Park tube stations and a short walk from Victoria, Charing Cross and Waterloo mainline stations.
